Du Roi Laboratory, along with its sister companies also situated in Letsitele, celebrated this year’s Mandela Day at Hlayisani Drop-in Centre at Mamitwa. “Giving of your time and efforts really is the best way of honouring this significant day,” says Tam Johnson, Du Roi Lab sales and technical manager. “The concept of spending 67 minutes making a difference offers so many possibilities for real change.”

Staff participation included painting the building, serving lunch to the 140 children and planting 40 mango and citrus fruits trees to help fight climate change and helping overcome food insecurities at the centre. Du Roi Lab donated 3 crates of bananas and Du Roi Nursery spoilt the kids with 10 crates of mandarins. And to top it off, a slice of birthday cake to celebrate Madiba’s birthday.

Du Roi’s longstanding partnership has enabled the centre to make a difference in the lives of so many children in the community.

“What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived. It is what difference we have made to the lives of others that will determine the significance of the life we lead.” – Nelson Mandela
